Quilted and Embroidered Repurposed Linen Jacket

This warm, one of a kind, quilted jacket is repurposed and remade from a vintage linen shirt combined with a vintage embroidered tablecloth.

The original garment was completely deconstructed and remade with new layers.

It features a machine quilted outer layer with interlining that sandwiches a layer of fine, but warm, autumn weight cotton wadding. The red and black embroidery panels have been cut from a vintage tablecloth, each hand stitch in place and then machine and hand quilted.

A couple of hand sewn on patch repairs have been made and the piece is finished with sections of repurposed embroidery around the collar and cuffs.

The lining is cut from repurposed linen and features 2 large interior patch pockets. As always, the garment is stamped to show it is a repurposed item.

Items are made with preloved vintage and second garments and textiles. As such they may show signs of age from storage or wear related use including the likes of fold lines, discolouration, markings, repair work and stitch marks. I think these imperfections all add to the uniqueness and charm of the garments story and I hope you think so too!

Please refer to the photos and of course anything major will be highlighted in the description above.
